Adopt a Senior: Stories Worth Keeping — UnBreakable Enterprises

Stories Worth Keeping

A lifetime of stories. A voice worth keeping.

Every resident has memories that belong to them—and stories that could mean the world to someone they love.

Through Stories Worth Keeping, UnBreakable brings a personal, podcast-style interview experience to participating nursing-home residents. We sit down, ask thoughtful questions, and make room for the memories they want to share—from childhood adventures and family traditions to meaningful milestones, hard-earned wisdom, and moments that still make them laugh.

There’s no script to memorize or speech to prepare. Just a welcoming conversation, at their pace, about what matters to them.

Their voice, preserved. Their story, celebrated.

Each participating resident receives:

A personal storytelling interview

With our team, focused on the memories and experiences they choose to share.

A flash drive of their audio recording

Preserving their story in their own voice for family, friends, and future generations.

A feature in the Stories Worth Keeping Yearbook

Showcasing their story alongside a headshot and short biography.

Together, these keepsakes honor both the life they’ve lived and the person they are today—someone with wisdom, personality, and something meaningful to contribute to their community.

The Stories Worth Keeping Yearbook is produced when Legacy Sponsorships reach their goal. Gifts and recorded interviews continue regardless. See the yearbook goal.

Help make these conversations possible

Business production sponsors help support the interview team, audio recording, story preparation, and creation of the yearbook. Your sponsorship gives us the time and resources to listen with care and turn these conversations into lasting keepsakes.

Participation is always optional. Residents choose what they share and give permission for recording and yearbook inclusion. We coordinate with nursing-home staff and honor each resident’s choices about how their story may be shared.

Personal Story

Some voices stay with us

Every once in a while, I close my eyes and try hard enough to hear my mom’s voice again. I wish I had saved her voicemails. You don’t always realize how much you’ll treasure the sound of someone’s voice until you can no longer hear it.

Each senior has a lifetime of stories—of love, family, hard seasons, laughter, lessons, and the ways they’ve made a difference. Those memories are part of who they are. They’re also a gift to the people who love them. This year, we’re creating a chance for more of those stories to be heard, remembered, and held onto.

How The Campaign Works

A tradition of giving, with a new chapter

For about seven years, our Adopt a Senior program brought gifts to residents in local nursing homes. After a few years away, we’re bringing it back with an added expression of our heart for storytelling.

01

Sponsor a gift

Each $15 sponsorship helps provide one senior with a cozy lotion-and-socks gift. Business production sponsors help support the team time that makes the storytelling project possible.

02

Deliver with care

We coordinate with each nursing home to bring the gifts to residents.

03

Preserve stories by choice

During the visit, residents who want to participate can share a memory in a short recorded conversation. With permission, the recording or transcript may be shared with the resident and family, and selected stories may be featured by the nursing home.

Every senior receives a gift. Storytelling is completely optional.

Comfort is given freely to every resident. Recording is only with their explicit consent.

Stories & Memories

A look back at the love

These moments remind us what a simple gift can mean. This year, we’re carrying that tradition forward and making room for stories, voices, and memories to be treasured.

Storytelling and Legacy

Their stories are part of our story

Imagine sitting beside someone who has lived a whole lifetime—loved deeply, weathered hard seasons, learned lessons, raised families, served others, and made an impact in ways that may never have been fully celebrated. There is wisdom worth hearing and a voice a family may someday wish they could hear again.

During our Adopt a Senior visit, we’ll host a special storytelling day for residents who want to take part. With their permission, we’ll record their voices and memories. We’ll work with each nursing home to decide whether an approved story may be shared with family or featured in a resident newsletter.

Privacy & dignity note: Residents choose whether to participate and how their story may be shared. We’ll follow nursing-home policies and obtain the needed permission before recording or sharing.

Your story may become someone else’s key

UnBreakable Publishing helps people turn lived experience, testimony, and hard-won wisdom into meaningful books and collaborative works. The Adopt a Senior project begins with listening—honoring each person’s voice and preserving the stories they choose to share.

For families who want to explore a fuller life story or keepsake project, UnBreakable Publishing can be a resource for learning what may be possible. Any publishing conversation is separate from the Adopt a Senior gift and storytelling day. There is no obligation to pursue publishing.

Bring a storytelling day to your community

We’ll coordinate with nursing-home staff so the day feels welcoming and comfortable for residents. The Adopt a Senior visit includes gifts for participating residents and an optional storytelling experience for those who choose to share.

Facilities that want ongoing visits for new or interested residents may ask about quarterly storytelling sessions. This is a separate service, with scope and pricing discussed with the facility.

A pair of cozy socks. A thoughtful note. A story shared in someone’s own voice. Small moments can become treasured memories. Thank you for helping us honor seniors for the love, wisdom, and stories they still have to give.
